Pathmark calls out to all choirs, come join the fun. There is no charge to enter the Competition, but a performance tape must be submitted with the entry form and postmarked no later than December 31.

The ninth annual Pathmark Gospel Choir Competition will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2009. Choirs from around the country are invited to enter and compete for $10,000 in prizes. This event, the pride and joy of New York’s celebration of Black History Month, returns to The World Financial Center Winter Garden, West Street between Vesey and Liberty Streets in Lower Manhattan. Gospel music lovers of every age will want to share in the glorious sound. Inspirational bands, fine soloists and sweet harmonies add to a tremendous day and an opportunity for choirs, famous in their own communities, to mark their place in Manhattan.
Choirs from churches, organizations, schools, unions or corporations are invited to enter. Prizes for the Open Division include the $5,000 Grand Prize, $2,000 Second and $1,000 Third. Youth Division (all members must be 18 or under) winners will be awarded $1,000 First Prize, $600 Second and $400 Third.
The Youth Division Choirs will sing out first. Their competition begins at 10:00 AM with the winners announced at 12:30 PM. Open Division Choirs compete from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. The prizes will be awarded at 5:30 PM.
